I've been using and replacing thistle sacks for years. The stainless steel mesh on this feeder and powder coated metal parts make this the most durable thistle feeder I've ever seen. It's also the most attractive I've had. It took a few days for the birds to get used to it but now it is usually so full of birds that they are lined up on nearby branches waiting to get on.

I had been searching for a thistle feeder that was large enough to accomodate quite a few finches at once, and when I found this one I felt it was a little too expensive. But when I went ahead and ordered it, once it arrived I could see the quality and know it will last a long time. The birds apparently liked it, also, because within a week I constantly have yellow finches covering it. Their antics are fun to watch and it holds enough thistle seed that I don't have to constantly be out filling it up.

I have two other nyjer feeders that use perches, and have slits for the birds to reach the seed. I find that the slits get clogged up with tiny twigs or pellets of millet that have made their way into the bag. This feeder completely eliminates that problem. I also prefer the perch-less nature of this feeder. Our goldfinches often feed sideways, or upside down, and it's a lot more fun to watch them now. The feeder appears to be well constructed, and looks easy to clean. I was so happy with my first one that I decided to buy a second.
