I love this bird feeder, first day I had it, I did not see many birds. Two days later, I have a line of birds sitting on the fence waiting to get in. Its amazing, I have never seen so many birds at once. I have seven birdfeeders, three of them are finch feeders. I was having a problem with red winged birds eating all of nygel seeds and now little ones are no longer bullied around. I only wish this bird feeder had more perches. Maybe if it was a little longer. Too many birds. I have a finch sock and a no no feeder plus this one and every one of them is always busy. on the other side of the yard I have bird feeders for larger birds, like magpies, doves grackles and many others. we have chipmunks and squirrels that come by. We have lots of houses around and its nice to see a glimse of nature once in a while. forthis bird feeder I mix, 8 in 1 canary and finch food with nygel and broken up sunflower seeds. walmart sells 8 in 1 birdseed in pet section for $2.37.

I have had seed in this feeder for over 5 weeks now and have not had to refill it. I use a mix of de-shelled seed and I get lots of little birds all day long using the feeder. I have not had any birds stop coming to the feeder since switching to this one with a cage!!!! The larger birds simply eat what falls to the ground. The list of birds I get eating from the feeder include: gold finches, sparrows (yuk), juncos, titmouses, chickadees, red-headed woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers, nuthatches, & house finches. Eating from what falls to the ground I get: blue jays, mockingbirds, grackles, cardinals, & robins. A must have for backyard bird enthusiasts who hate having to always put food in the feeder.

This feeder is wonderful for reducing the amount of seeds that the squirrels steal. They get some but not all. Also the raccoons have not (so far) been able to pry off the top and empty the feeder. I love that the bottom can esaily be taken out for cleaning.
