Bought this a gift for my girlfriend. You can use any type of birdseed but sunflower/cardinal mix works well. It is ceramic so you have to be careful when handling or cleaning but seems very durable. Looks good in the back yard and squirrels haven't figured out how to lift the lid (yet).
