This is a pretty feeder, but ineffective. We had a few visitors, but not as many as with the "cheap" plastic ones you can buy at any Home Depot. Bummer, too, because it look nice (to humans); not so tempting to the birds we're trying to attract.

The other review was spot on ( July 1, 2011). We bought for the same reason and had the same problems. Can think of no other use for this thing...

We purchased this feeder because of the cheap price and cool appearance. Unfortunately, it is terribly designed as an actual hummingbird feeder, so I felt compelled to warn others.

The feeder fills and hummingbirds drink from the top. Due to this, in-order to have enough liquid for the hummingbirds to be able to feed you need to fill the glass jar until it overflows. Even after this point, evaporation and drinking will drain the feeder to the point hummingbirds can't reach the nectar after a day or two. The majority of the nectar never gets used and floats forever out of reach of birds.

Our feeder became a cesspool of dead insects with nectar to low for birds to reach after the first 2-3 days. I'd recommend getting a feeder that drains from the bottom instead of the top.
