For all the birds do for us, and for all that we have done to them, the least we can do for our feathered friends in our own yards is to buy them some food in the worst of seasons and difficulties. Our homes are often sitting on the very land where trees, bushes, maybe a stream and more once provided for these birds. So give back some of what has been taken by purchasing and maintaining a birdfeeder or 2 or 3.I put the Brome Peanut up 3 days ago and filled it with raw shelled peanuts. The woodpeckers took to it immediately, Cardinals too. I have always had woodpeckers around but never in the numbers I have seen the last few days. This is a far better and cheaper option to suet cakes. This is my 3rd and latest Brome feeder. 2 months ago I bought the Brome Finch Feeder 1016, and I've had the Brome 1024 for 6 years. However, the squirrels have been all over it and are unable to get any peanuts.I love Brome feeders. This is my fifth Brome squirrel proof product. It's great to be able to keep squirrels out; eventually the woodpeckers will find the feeder with peanuts. Great product. Update on 2/16/12 Yesterday, I saw a woodpecker enjoying some peanuts.
