I'm very pleased with this feeder and the rosy finches are too. It's attractive and easy to maintain. The whole feeder, including top, are metal. It hangs from a sturdy wire and the top secures with a sturdy, depressable plastic clasp (like on backpacks and other outdoor gear). The whole copper top comes off the base and refilling is very easy. The wind can blow through the screen, keeping the seed fresh and reducing (or maybe even eliminating) any bacterial contimination of seed. The seed flows freely at the bottom, yet never oversplills even on super windy days. The feeder exeeds expectations and I'm considering a second one for the other porch. Highly recommended.
