This review is from: Dr. JB's Clean Hummingbird Feeder The feeder comes apart in three easy to clean pieces and can be put in the dishwasher (top rack). No impossible to reach nooks where mold can grow. The glass reservoir is fairly large and holds a good amount of nectar if you're lucky enough to have lots of hummingbirds.
While this feeder does have plastic rails at the bottom, it's not in the product picture. The rails are pretty close to the body, so often times the bigger hummingbirds don't use it. They can also be flimsy and might break. The feeder arrived with two rails snapped on one side. Since we were pretty excited about setting it up, we just decided to snip off the broken rails. We've had this for months now, and the two remaining rails have held up just fine. The hummingbirds that use the rails definitely prefer the sides where the rails are and will avoid the side with the missing rails if they can. 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Dr. JB's Clean Hummingbird Feeder This item claims to be simple in design and such that ants and such don't get into it. Well, I beg to differ. First of all, for some reason, the humming birds did not take to it as they did and continue to do with my old feeder which is no longer available in stores or on Amazon. Although the color seems attracting, the birds don't seem to go to it. Each day I have to tilt it so that the feeding holes have liquid in them; it doesn't automatically fill as my old feeder does. And there are insects in the liquid. They seem to be getting in by going through the feeder holes. Too bad. I had hoped it would work because the design is simple, but it isn't functional. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Dr. JB's Clean Hummingbird Feeder Have had this Dr. JB Feeder 2 years. Attracted the hummers instantly. So much easier to fill and keep clean than any other (5 or 6 tried) hummingbird feeder that I've had. Durable plastic. Hasn't even lost color from the hot Virginia sun in two seasons. The inventor (Dr. JB I guess) really knew about feeding hummingbirds, so he included features such as a wide opening for the glass bottle, which itself is heavy duty. The bottle sits flat on the kitchen counter for filling because the hook folds into the cap...brilliant. The 2 part collecting-feeding base is tight but not so you can't push it apart to open and clean with your (beyond middle-aged female here) hands. No pliers or screwdrivers needed. And it's dishwasher safe; big thank you Dr. JB.So buy this feeder. Do not get any hummer feeder with a skinny necked bottle, or you'll be feeding the hummingbirds mold and other unsavory junk. |
