Get as close as possible to the fleet little hummingbirds in your garden with this window-mounted feeder from Droll Yankees. The flying-saucer-shaped feeder sports a bright red circle and two red feeding flowers on top that will catch a hummingbird's eye. Constructed in two pieces, the feeder's main body and the mounting bar separate for easy refilling. To fill the feeder, just spin the dial on top to the open slot and pour in the feeding solution. A solution recipe discreetly printed on the upper surface of the feeder comes in handy. In addition to being convenient, the UV-stabilized polycarbonate feeder is strong and easy to clean. --Emily Bedard

Summary: Pretty good 2006-05-09
Comment: I have another hummingbird window feeder that the birds love but decided to try this one because it had the ability for the birds to perch. When I switched the feeders, the hummingbirds kept pecking at the top of the feeder. At first this irritates you when they take off. Eventually though, within a few visits, they get the hang of it. Every now and then, one will peck at the top, take off and return to find the port. I find it easy to clean because the whole red top screws off. This feeder also reduces the chance of drips. Not so sure though that the hummingbirds would have been as patient to figure out how to use the feeder if they didn't get used to the window as a source of nectar from my first feeder.

Summary: Fine feeder 2004-08-25
Comment: We have two of the Droll Yankees window feeders and another of their hanging feeders. I was just about to order several more of the window feeders as gifts when I noticed the negative review and felt compelled to respond.
With our previous, gravity-style feeders, the nectar would drip attracting a continuous stream of bees which would drive off the hummingbirds. The design of both Droll Yankee feeders is bee-proof. On occasion, a bee will explore the feeder only to give up in frustration.
It took the birds about two weeks to figure out the window feeder, but now (end of summer) it seems to be their favorite. Because it mounts on the window, I can watch the birds from only a couple of feet away. It's neat to be able to identify individual birds from their unique markings.
Use a 1-to-4 sugar-to-water mix (no coloring necessary). Wash the feeder at least weekly with regular dish detergent/water and rinse scrupulously with hot water. Don't wait until the feeder is empty for washing or refilling. Yes, you will have to disassemble the feeder for washing; it's neither difficult nor inconvenient. Relax and enjoy the weekly ritual, then enjoy the birds.

Summary: Droll Yankee Hummingbird Feeders are the BEST! 2002-09-08
Comment: There is nothing like seeing beautiful little hummingbirds darting about their feeders, and observing their different feeding behaviors. Some of them sit on the side of their feeders and leisurely sip, and others continuously stay in mid air, performing amazing aerobatics. The Droll Yankee feeders allow us a birds-eye view, and their feeders are "hummingbird friendly" to the max. I own four of them, and keep them filled all the time for maximum viewing pleasure. Keep them filled all year round! You can get hours of pleasure watching these lovely creatures as they dart about your garden.

Summary: Terrible to clean, hummers don't like it 2002-05-29
Comment: I bought two of these and was very disappointed, they do not come apart (top and bottom) making cleaning them very difficult. I use the red hummingbird food and the hummers don't like this feeder, they peck at the top red portion and have trouble finding the food. If you use the clear food it will be harder to attract the hummers, but they still don't like this one very much. They like my strawberry feeders much better, and I do have some of those that stick on the window as well. I would highly suggest to skip this feeder, cleaning is important for their health, and they visit this feeder the least of all my feeders.
