Be prepared to buy LOTS of thistle seed. The finches LOVE this feeder and empty it every day. It's great fun to watch them, but the seed purchase gets to be expensive!

I bought this feeder to replace a net/sock type feeder. No real problems with the sock feeder other than you could not appreciate all the birds that were feeding at one time. The tube feeder was ready right out of the box. Fill the three tubes and hang. Within an hour I had my first golden finch of the season. Now some three weeks later I can see 10 to 15 at any one time stacking up the grid like little yellow and green jewels on a ladder. I think the spacing and physical barrier of the tubes leads to more harmony. Over all well constructed, the single small holes on each side of the tube keep the seed drier than the sock feeder and a fair price when purchased from amazon.

Really great for the small birds. Bigger birds stay away. This was
a big problem before. I fill two outer tubes with reg. Finch food
and inside tube with Niger. Hard to keep them filled as there are
birds eating constantly.
