Gardman BA01276 Squirrel Proof Cage Seed Bird Feeder

I've been using this bird feeder for a few months now, and I generally like how it performs. Unlike other versions designed like this, the little feeder stations are made of metal, so even if the squirrels did manage to gain access to the inner core, the squirrels won't be able to tear them out. The hanging cable seems strong and durable, and my local squirrels haven't managed to pull it off the hook I've got it hanging on. The distance between the bars on the cage is spaced small enough to keep out the squirrels and the bigger annoying birds, like grackles.

As far as negative issues with this design, I have a couple observations. First, the top section unscrews to allow for filling the feeder, but it's not always easy to get it back on. Twice while refilling it, I thought I had it on securely, only to have it all fall to the ground because I didn't quite have it closed right. I purchased this item in hope that it would end me having to fill the feeder daily. I was wrong, the little buggers still
get in the wire cage and by tipping it send the seed to the ground. I don't know if there is a feeder out on the market
that can stop them. I do know this is not it.

I have been looking for one of these for about two years. The squirrels try to hang on it but give up after a few tries. The only thing that is a draw back is the hanger it used to have a metal ring and I did like that better than the wire. I am still glad I found it.
