Basically, the bird feeder with its mounting pole was just what we wanted and we couldn't find one locally - so we were very pleased with our purchase. To be honest, there was one major deficiency that was a disappointment and that is the top of the bird feeder was not secured in anyway to the main section of the bird feeder. In our area, there is no way that top would stay on during strong winds or even not such strong winds. I basically used wire to make hinges so the top would not get separated from the bird feeder (and lost). I also added a weight to be sure the top would not get blown open. Obviously, it would have been nice to have a bird feeder that did not require modification to make it more functional, but it was a minor operation and, otherwise, the bird feeder was just what we wanted.
