I purchased this birdfeeder because I liked the style of it, and how the birds can cling to it and pick the seeds out. I enjoy watching birds, so when they cling to it to eat, I get to see them for longer periods of time, as opposed to when they go to the platform feeders, where they are hidden from view.
Also, while this is a Squirrel Proof Feeder, there is one squirrel in my yard who is crafty enough to be able to jump up and grab on, but he never can stay on long enough to eat all the seeds, and I do enjoy squirrels, so when he does get on it, watching his acrobatics is quite the comedy act!
A wonderful feeder, easy to re-fill, holds a lot of seeds, and a great price.

This birdfeeder is for anyone who has thieving little squirrels, does not want to fill a feeder every week and wants it to last forever. Best birdfeeder I have every owned and have given several as gifts. It is all metal so it will last forever!!! It is not just for cardinals. Once the birds found it they all came, however, it is difficult for large birds to hang on so smaller varieties will come in droves. I didn't even know little birds ate sunflower seeds.

I love this bird feeder. My old one was very good, but squirrels were getting in it, so I had to buy a baffle, then I found that the doves, were getting in it and 3 doves covered the whole feeder and would chase off the little birds.
Now the doves have to feed off the table feeder, because they have no perch. It's rather funny watching them try to use it.
These feeders are easy to maintain, not like the plastic ones I've tried in the past. Also fairly squirrel proof.
I had another metal one, with the screw on top, the squirrels would get on it, spin it around and it would fall on the ground and they would cart off all the food.
Because you have to put the food in the top, a clear dome is a good idea to help keep it clean.
