The squirrels hang upside down with their feet and reach for the seeds. From what I see, it doesn't deter squirrels one bit. The only way you can make it squirrel-resistant is to hang it from a long thin wire that squirrels can't climb down, and place it away from any other branches that they could jump from. Seeing as how you could do this to any feeder, It doesn't make this feeder any more squirrel-resistant than other, less expensive feeders.
