Product Description
The Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone Wild Bird Feeder features six feeding ports, U-shaped perches and holds 3.4 lbs. of seed. The interior seed tower is surrounded by rustic metalwork. The feeding ports have sturdy metal perches that allow birds to feed comfortably but, when the squirrels perch on them, their weight causes the entire metal casing to slip down, completely blocking the feeding ports and their access to the seed. The six perch/feeding station set-up, coupled with the anti-squirrel technology makes this feeder one of the most economical and convenient on the market! The clear, shatter-proof plastic reservoir makes it easy to monitor seed levels. Remember to clean your feeder once every two weeks with mild soap and water solution. Comes fully assembled with seed tray. Perky-Pet is the leading supplier of Wild Bird Feeders and Accessories. Perky-Pet Wild Bird Feeder models lure the bird in pursuit of seed providing you with hours of joy as random wild birds flock to feed at your house.
I bought this bird feeder last year. The birds really enjoyed it, and the squirrels had to take the leavings they dropped... However, it no longer works this year, because the springs that operate it have broken. They are on the outside, exposed to the weather, and they just didn't last long enough. The other thing, is that the squirrels learned to grab ahold of it and shake it, which sprayed the seed out for them to get. I'm looking at a new feeder, this time with the springs on the *inside*!

I've had this feeder for two years and simply love it! No squirrel has defeated it's clever locking mechansim and now leave it completely alone. Ours hangs from a deck railing way up in the trees. It holds a good amount of seed and is easy to fill. The numerous metal perches allow many birds to feed at once. Other so called "squirrel proof" types simply did not do the job and I would not buy any other kind from now on.

Checked and filled the feeder with sunflower seeds, hung it outside and visually checked the seed level from inside the house. I had seen very little bird activity on the feeder which I put down to the fact that there were fewer birds around because of snow on the ground and the feeder was new. The squirrels, however, paid periodic visits.
After 2 weeks I checked the feeder closely only to find both springs were missing which I have to assume were inadvertently dislodged by the squirrels. I found one spring but the feeder needs two. Since I cannot find replacement springs I will return this to the store.
