This sock is like another one I bought previously, in that it is of a very tough material that makes it difficult for the birds to extract the seeds. I have a companion sock that the finches prefer, and they usually leave this one alone. This is a heavy duty sock that makes the finches work for the seeds.

Birds flock to it!,

This is my favorite feeder when it isn't raining. I don't have to fill it very often because of the 2 lb size. Our birds actually flocked to it. I am thinking it is because the yellow bird is similar to them. I get an occasional red finch. Using this sack was the first time I attracted tons of yellow finches, at least 10 or more at a time because they don't have to fight for a place, just cling to the sides. I love it. Only down side is that it has to be covered in the winter. I used a very large umbrella last year, but this year I am switching to the metal feeder with a similar design that has a umbrella type top.

I have this feeder with the picture of the goldfinch on it and a plain white one next to it. The birds refuse to feed from this one. I think they may be afraid of the picture.
