Wish it were a bit longer, but given the angle, that would be asking for leverage problems.

As it is, this is very well built and very easily mounts on the upright "pickets" of your deck (for instance) and will hold a surprising load, unlike the clamp-on hooks in wide use. We've got it holding the large Brome "Squirrel Buster Plus", which weighs roughly three tons when full of hulled sunflower seed. Well, OK. Maybe two tons.

I have been trying to find a hook to hang my bird feeder off my deck for quite awhile so I was very excited when I found the rail hook on Amazon.com. My deck does not have the standard top board across the top so none of the traditional hooks would work. This hook is perfect for my situation and is well made and very sturdy. I have a heavy wooden bird feeder and even when it is full and quite heavy the rail hook is strong and doesn't move or sway slightly. We occasionally have windy days and even that doesn't seem to be a problem for the hook or feeder that is hanging from it. I am in love with this product and will probably be purchasing several more to hang potted plants. I highly recommend this rail hook to anyone wanting an easy to use, quality product to hang potted plants or bird feeders from their deck.

This deck rail hook is well made, sturdy and works great to hold my birdfeeder. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that I had to purchase 4 new bolts because the ones provided were not long enough to allow the bracket to fit around my ordinary size deck spindles.
