All Weather Feeder-Squirrel Proof Cage

For years I have been looking for a feeder like this. I have been using a K-Feeder Super carousel. To keep the big birds away I cut the perches short. It was great for small birds but the cardinals would not perch to eat. Also the birds kicked a lot of feed out and it fell to the ground. With an excellent food supply my chipmunk population got way out of hand. With the "All Weather Feeder" I have all the small birds that were there before and now the Cardinals are coming also. The bottom pan catches the excess feed so it does not fall to the ground, no food=no chipmunks. GREAT

The cage is well made, simple to install, and does prevent squirrels from accessing the opening. However, the other main reason we purchased it was to keep the grackles from flying to and scaring all the smaller birds away, which the description DOES mention the cage deters. We have a LOT of grackles come spring, and early summer!
I don't mind grackles eating, I even strew seeds and peanuts on the deck for the larger birds, squirrels and chipmunks. But the grackles still manage, prefer even, to hang onto the edge and stick their heads inside to get at the sunflowers. I've never seen a dove attempt this. So the majority of the seed STILL goes to the darned grackles!
The smaller birds do still get inside when they get a chance, but once those big grackles come swooping down, away the little ones flutter. I also haven't noticed many cardinals on the feeder. This is an awesome feeder. No more wet food and sprouts growing from my house style bird feeder. I put a few seeds on the shelf just like the directions said and they figured it out w/in a few minutes. Love it! Would not have any other type of feeder.
