A friend told me about this product. Up until now I had never seen an Oriole in our yard, but from talking with neighbors, knew that they lived in the area. Within one hour of hanging this feeder an Oriole found it. From then on I have been visited by Orioles many times per day. This product comes with its own jar, which is a major cost savings advantage. We buy large store-brand jars of grape jelly and spoon them into the supplied container. We have tried other flavors but grape works the best. Other birds are also attracted to the jelly. In our area(east-central Wisconsin) House Finches and Hummingbirds often visit the feeder. For the money, this is the best Oriole feeder available.
BTW: I recently ordered a second feeder.

I thought it would be fun to experiment with a unique, inexpensive item to draw more birds to my back deck in New England. I've had the Jelly Feeder up for about 3 weeks and for the last 2.5 nothing happened. Birds who were coming to my feeders and suet frequently showed no interest in this. I used whatever jelly i had in the house, which was blackberry and wondered if that made a difference since most articles i read recommend grape. I was disappointed until three days ago when i noticed that the jelly was gone. So i plan to buy some grape jelly and try it again.

This is my second purchase of the item, I used it last year and the Oriole's and Grossbeak's LOVED IT!!!! Last year I bought a 10 ounce smuckers jar, and it worked great.. I managed to lose it over the winter so I ordered another one. I should have opened the box before buying a new jam jar, because it came with a plastic jar that fits perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
