Product Description
The Opus Top Flight Fortress Bird Feeder features a squirrel resistant design that provides small birds with a safe feeding haven. The 1inch, green coated, square fencing creates perching for several small songbirds while resisting squirrels and larger birds. Birds can reach their heads through the fencing but squirrels cannot. The feeder tube is made of durable plastic that is perfect for three quarts of nearly any seed. The 12 feeding ports provide plenty of stations for many birds to feed at once and the green metal cap lifts for easy cleaning and filling. The feeder base is equipped with drainage holes to prevent your seed from spoiling. This chew and rust resistant feeder may be hung using the included green wire hanger and comes with a manufacturer's lifetime guarantee.
This feeder IS NOT squirrel proof. The little darlings hang from it and reach in between the "fortress" guard and help themselves. The squirrels also gnaw on the plastic tube. The feeder is also hard to put back together because any seed that's in the base of it gets in the way of the "locks" on the bottom... you almost have to empty it each time you put it back together so there is no seed blocking the locks.

If you are looking for a bird feeder that squirrels can not steal from, look elsewhere. Squirrels are smart, and I have one that figured out how to climb down the hanger and cling to the feeder upside down, helping himself to the bird seed. I guess I'll have to try using a dome-shaped shield on the hanger and see if that helps. For now, I will try to keep the squirrels distracted by keeping an adequate supply of cheaper food on the ground where it is easier to access. Also, if you are shopping for your first bird feeder, I recommend getting a smaller one to start out. This one has a much larger capacity than my birds consume in a reasonable time, so I end up dumping most of the food when it's time to clean it and refill it with fresh food. Birds don't like moldy food. They also don't seem to like the cheaper seed blends that have a lot of milo and other cheap fillers, at least not here in upstate NY. It's probably better to have a number of smaller feeders instead of one...Read more

I bought this feeder from wally-world for ~$20 specifically seeking a squirrel-proof solution.
This item's name seems to claim that it's squirrel-proof.
I don't think our squirrels are card-carrying Mensa members, but they can certainly figure out how to hang on the outside of this mis-labeled product and shake seed into the bottom trough 'til it fills up enough that they can reach it. We don't feed many birds with this, but we pump a lot of seed into these rodents.
If I wanted a squirrel-feeder, I wouldn't have spent $$ on a Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder. Gets a Zero on a scale of 1-5.
