A Copper Umbrella,

This review is from: Woodlink COPLEAF18 Brushed Copper Weather Shield, 18-Inch (Lawn & Patio)
I bought two of these from a local birding store to hang over seed feeders. We wanted something decorative that would also keep the birds dry as they fed during rain events. Any squirrel deterrent properties of this shield was secondary.
The shields have been hanging in our backyard for almost a year now, and we are very pleased with them. The shield does a good job protecting feeding birds from rain or snow. Wind will move the shield/baffle to some extent, but not excessively.
My only complaint is that the shield would be even better with a couple additional inches.
Birds occasionally perch on the shield and sometimes even a squirrel. If you buy this shield solely as a potential squirrel baffle, you may be disappointed.
The weather shield copper baffle is ornate, attractive, and protective.

Attractive and Functional,

The weather shield is very attractive with its brushed copper material and overlapping leaf design. They look like oak leaves to me, but I'm no arborist. On the Woodlink site the dimensions for this shield are listed as 18" diameter by 5" height. Eighteen inches is a very generous measurement. Because of the leaf design of the shield the outer edge is irregular, but even at its widest point 17.5 inches would be closer to reality. Measuring from the recessed areas of the edge, I found the diameter to be only 14 inches.
A separate hanging hook is packaged in a plastic bag along with a card containing hanging directions. Be sure to keep these directions in safe place so as not to lose them.
I still like this weather shield and don't regret its purchase. However, it sure looked a lot bigger in Ace than it does above the bird feeder. Birds at the top of the elongated feeder do get some protection from the rain and/or snow. Birds feeding at the bottom aren't afforded as much...Read more

This is beautiful but way too small to be a squirrel baffle. Should be twice the size (yes, and I'd pay twice the price). It's made beautifully, just too small and it looks silly on top of a bird feeder.
