The product is made of plastic and is designed to be functional, not a decorative item for your garden. It works as advertised and was frequently covered with small birds taking advantage of the many feeding stations. It has a unique system that makes it very easy to fill. I have had a problem with pigeons perching on the edge of the lower tray in order to get at the chipped sunflower birdseed that I use and because of this pigeon problem I have had to replace this feeder with one that has a screen around the feeding tube to keep squirrels and larger birds away from the bird seed. I replaced this feeder with a $35 one from Lowes that has a screen around the feeding tube and a tray in the bottom to catch the dropped seed.

I bought this because I could hang it or put it on a pole. However, the bottom material was too flimsy to mount on a pole. I had to bolt a steel plate on the bottom with a section of pipe welded on to make it strong enough. Then I discovered that when pole mounted a good wind will rise the top off. I had to kink the steel rod to make it secure, but that makes it difficult to remove the top to re fill it.
