Exclusive perch activated bee guard. Feeding stations allow orioles and Hummingbirds to feed without bees.
Product Review
Product Description
Exclusive perch activated bee guard. Feeding stations allow orioles and hummingbirds to feed without bees. The bird s weight lowers perch to reveal oriole nectar for feeding. Feeder is a rugged plastic hexagonal bottle featuring a no drip feeding base. Three feeding ports.
The Perky Pet feeder has little plastic strips that cover the feeding port. The idea is this: The Oriole lands on the perch and the plastic strip lowers to reveal the feeding port.
The problem is the cover strips also have a hole in them. So, you're covering a hole with a hole -- ?????
Since I have hung the feeder, the only thing it has attracted is BEES. There are 8 to 10 bees on it at any given moment. They sit on the bee guard for quite a while, so I can only assume they are getting something for their effort.
The only benefit I'm reaping from this feeder is it seems to be keeping the bees away from my Hummingbird Feeders.
This product is definitely not worth the money.

This review is from: Woodstream Deluxe Oriole Feeder (Kitchen)
Well this worked great for the orioles at first, however the bees figured out how to "team" up and get into the feeder. Once inside the feeder (through the holes behind the bee guards) the bees just couldn't get out because the bee guard would reposition over the hole. I ended up with at least 50 to 75 dead bees inside the feeder. I cleaned the feeder and put it away till next year (I'll try in one more time). Just couldn't risk using it anymore this year, I'm allergic to bees and a gentleman died in San Diego County this year from being attacked by a swarm of bees. I wish Perky pet would invent a truly "bee free" oriole feeder. I would not recommend purchasing this oriole feeder.

I purchased this product and much to my disappointment, the bees were able to lift up the guards and get in. I had about a week before the bees found it. The humming birds were able to feed from it as well. The little perch activated hole covers come with a hole just for humming birds and bees.
