best feeder ever,

I placed this in the comments, then decided to share it here. My mother bought herself one, then bought me one, then I bought one for my in-laws. This is the best bird feeder I've ever seen. I placed mine 4 feet away from anything the squirrels could leap down to it from (they can't climb up it or tip it over), and it really works. It's covered with so many fat doves that my husband calls it the dove feeder, and we have to fill it every week. The squirrels wait under it for the crumbs the birds leave when flying away-- that's all they get. BTW: I did not end up getting it from a marketplace seller, as the promised delivery date instead brought only unanswered emails. They did not charge me for it, but I had to scramble to find a last minute gift to replace one that had supposedly been in stock and available for holiday delivery, and that was not a last minute order. Still, this feeder is widely available, even at Sears, and worth every cent you will pay for it. Get a big big bag of...Read more

We've had many feeders, including the green house-shaped one with the spring loaded perch and several versions of the kind where the tube or box is drawn down by the weight of the squirrel to block the feeding holes. The weakness of these, you must already know, has to do with where they are placed. While hanging near a tree is nice, because birds should be able to fly easily to safety away from predators like cats, or hanging close to the house is helpful in preventing window strikes, these locations give squirrels access to the feeders as well. Also, anything with a mechanism that stays outside is subject to the weather, and this corroded the springs of our green feeder.
After spending so much on feeders and sometimes having to replace the cheaper ones twice a season due to squirrels chewing through the plastic, tearing off the bottoms, or finding ways to knock them to the ground (even when hung with metal cable!), I thought I might compromise a bit in location with a...Read more

This is the best bird feeder we've ever owned!,

We have owned dozens of bird feeders over the years, and always had some kind of complaint about an aspect of each one. Not so with this one! The engineering is superb! It is easy to fill, doesn't allow the seed to get wet or accumulate on the outside of the feeder, is squirrel proof, and there is absolutely no food waste -- we find none on the ground. We have been feeding birds for about thirty years and have never been as pleased with a feeder as we are with this one. And the birds seem to like it, too. Just yesterday afternoon a chickadee, purple finch, red-breasted grosbeak, and red-bellied woodpecker were enjoying eating from it at the same time (and that was the first time the woodpecker showed a preference for a feeder over the suet). All-around an A+ product!
